Can someone please explain to me how the BB/100 stat relates to table summary? Also, how can a players BB/100 stat be above 100 or below -100. I assume it has something to do with the fact that a player has been tracked less than 100 hands but isnt this a percentage?
lets try this. I understand bb/100 is big bets per 100 hands won or lost averaged out. I also understand that a big bet is 2X the big blind "OR MORE" So if I won 100 hands in a row and every pot was at least 2 times the big blind, My bb/100 would be 100. Unless the "OR MORE" portion of my understanding is wrong, I don't see how a players bb/100 can be over or under 100. I used the term percentage because I know it is not a direct dollar amount and anything /100 is a fraction which converts to a percentage. Maybe bad math but where am I wrong.
so the bb/100 also takes into account how much money was won or lost over that 100 hands assuminig the pot was over 2 X BB. If I won $100 in 10 hands over the last 100 my stat would be different than if I won $125 in 10 hands over the last 100 even though all hands are at least 2x the BB?
I think I see my biggest error, I thought it tracked the last 100 hands I played ONLY. then tabulated how many of the hands I won or lost during that period were at least 2x the big blind. I was trying to use bb/100 as a measure of a players current performance reguardless of number of hands tracked. I guess that info is not available.

BB/100=Big Bets Won (or lost) per 100 hands (Big Bet = 2x Big Blind)

After doing a little research I take back that I said this stat is good for nothing, a statement born of ignorance in fact its a great indicator of a players success and ability. But to simplify this whole thing (I hope) is that the BB/100 stat is is simply the amount of winnings divided by 2XBB per 100 hands played; folded or not.
so BB/100 = (amount won/2XBB)/(Total hands played/100)
Two things to note:
A) This stat gets progressively more accurate the more hands a player has played. personally, I don't take it in to account unless player has played AT LEAST 1000 hands.
B) To get a more accurate stat by including more hands, set the filter for a range, because each stake users its respective BB in equation it all works out the same.

BB/100 = (amount won/2XBB) / (Total hands played/100)
In kiddie terms it would be... how many BigBets have I won total, divided by how many "sets of 100 hands" have I played.
This gives a quick reference average that can be looked at to determine if the player is on average a winning player (positive number) or a losing player (negative number). Of course since "total hands played" is used in the denominator... the smaller the "total hands played" the less accurate the answer is. And if extremely small then the answer is widely scewed cuz you would then be dividing by a fraction (same as multiplying).
If I'm up $50 after playing 2000 hands at .25/.50. BigBet is $1.
BB/100 = (50 / 1) / (2000 / 100) = 50 / 20 = 2.50. A respectible number.
But say I started playing and soon called an all-in and won and then I left the table happy.
A quick in & out with a very low sample size...
If I'm up $42 after playing 20 hands at .25/.50. BigBet is $1.
BB/100 = (42 / 1) / (20 / 100) = 42 / .2 = 210.00. Of course no one maintains a BB/100 of 210.00 across several thousands of hands played.
