when i look up a players showdown hands they are never the hands played in the current game. why isn't the recent showdowns updated?

Recent showdowns is updated on a daily basis as a minimum. I never thought about it being updated immediately. It is possible that it updates every 2 minutes just like the stats do but I never had a need to look. If I need to see a showdown during a particular session, I just use the site hand history. Since recent showdowns only shows how much you won or lost in a particular hand and only your hole cards/board, It doesn't seem very useful during a live session.

I do see my most recent hands in the showdowns, it usually takes 10-20 minutes for them to show up there but they do get there in short order.
However - the problem that I see is that the PE showdowns aren't filtered like everything else is in PE.
I mix up my play with a lot of SNGs. In SNG play, many of my (or opponents) most recent showdowns will be from short table play in previous games. And it isn't very helpful during FULL table SNG play... to see what cards my opponent is willing to play when there are only 2-4 players left (previous game). PE needs to filter showdowns between cash and tourney and between full and short table. The showdowns part of PE needs to get improved.

How does recent showdowns help you see what hands your opponent is willing to play reguardless of whether it is from the same game or a different one? The only reason I could see to add filtering to recent showdowns is so you could have more seen from a specific game type or tournament stage. Am I wrong here?

If I'm currently playing a full table SNG with say 8-9 players left. It doesn't help me in the slightest if the showdowns I see for myself are from previous SNG spots when only 2-4 players left. I know I'll push and call with a much wider range of cards when there are only 4 or 3 players left, or in HU play... vs 8-9 players.
And during full table SNG play... if PE-showdowns shows me my previous showdowns from previous short table SNGs spots... then most/some of the showdowns of my opponents are from short table spots as well. Which makes PE-showdowns pretty much useless for full table SNG play.
It's completely different for cash games, the PE-showdowns are still usefull there because the table size isn't constantly shrinking to nothing and then starting at full every hour or so. But... if you play both cash and SNGs, the unfiltered PE-showdowns you see will be from both cash and SNGs and both full and short.
So all I'm saying is that PE-showdowns should def be filtered by full and short, and also probably filtered by cash vs tourney. I don't care which game there from???

I don't disagree with you about possible improvements to recent showdowns can be made, My point is, this function is pretty much useless during play even if it updated immediately and had the filters. It doesn't tell you who won the pot if you didn't, what their hand was or even how many players were in the hand.
As you know, I multi table and can see over 100 showdowns in a single session. Going back and looking at a hand I won or lost with just doesn't serve much purpose if I dont know who my opponent is or what he was holding. If you are only playing single tables, I think looking at the site HH and taking mental notes is all you need. Not sure about the other sites but at FT you can go back and look at HH of the last 50 hands you played. That should be more than enough info to get you through most SNG's. If I need more info than that, I just use PT.
As a side note, I remember once that Chad mentioned that V5 would eliminate the need for additional software such as PT or HEM. If this is true, It would make recent showdowns irrelevant anyway.

The only purpose I ever saw with it was for "hopefully" seeing the types of starting hands that my opponents will play. But in it's current form it's completely useless for that when it comes to SNGs.
You rake back hos that multi-table trying to fair better than even and make money from occasional nice spots and lots of rakeback may not see the value or care... but I do.
Sure it needs more info shown. Opponents cards, limp or raise or call, when raises occurred, etc. Lots of room for improvement.
I'm just saying it also needs to be filtered by table size and game type.
And I don't even care if it's updated immediately or not. I never cared about that.
p.s. the poker-site built in hand history info on sites like Bodog is almost completely useless

I have never really searched it myself. I find that I can get much more information from the recent hand history from the sites. This could be due in large part to multi-tabling and rarely looking at anything other than my huds and tool tips. But I guess if you are playing one table at a time you would have the time to search this but I've never concerned myself with it.

i quite like the recent showdons tab ; )
correct filtering would shure improve the quality of the information -
filtering as in the main lobby settings would do the best job.
correct pot size display for cash and tourney-play would be nice too.
i dont really care about the cards of the other players in the hand
because all i want to see is with what type of hands on what boards
someone will be willing to go to showdown
and if hes rather raising or calling (see that in the stats allready)
and what kinda hands he wins and looses with.
the displayed hands will seem somewhat looser than the stats suggest
very much propably due to last short handed played hands displayed
but
it somehow shows a hand and playing range
and can help to check if your opponent is running good
or just trying to fool everyone and hitting lucky ever then
you dont really need it that much, as you can guess by the stats
but it shows some real cards between all those numbers
and so i think its a nice feature anyway ; )
