Welcome to PokerEdge! - Please read this one post because it explains how to configure PE properly and it contains links to most everything you may need to know later. This info is also available from the Welcome screen during startup of the PE software. Beyond that, this forum is full of info about many poker-sites and topics... just use the search feature at the top of this page to search on keywords like: pacific, titan, vista, mac, mansion, lobby, buddy, hud, iexplore, odds, rake, pros, framework, v5, etc...
Forum registration: Your Poker-Edge subscription username/password is completely separate from your forum username/password. PE subscribers do not have a forum username until they register themselves in the forum.
Set your Filters correctly in the PE Main window, and then hit the apply/refresh filter button (two arrows in a circular pattern) after making any changes...or else the stats won't appear to update.
• For MTT or SNG tourneys, set the filter to "Tournaments"
• Or for Cash Games, set the filter to "Cash Games"
• If you play NoLimit or PotLimit, check the box for NoLimit and uncheck the box for LIMIT. For LIMIT games do the opposite.
• For cash games, for exact accuracy of the stake level you’re playing, set the BigBlind range to the exact BigBlind level you play. For example, if you play $1/$2 (bigblind level is $2)... set for BigBlinds between $2 and $2. If there isn't enough data collected for some players... try opening up the range to be above and below the BigBlind level you are playing. For example, if you play $1/$2… set for BigBlinds between $1 and $4.
• For Full games (7-10 players), set Game Size to "FULL", for Short games (6 or less), set Game Size to "SHORT". If there isn't enough data for short, you could set it to "BOTH" until more data accumulates. Both isn't quite as accurate as it combines full & short... but can be more helpful than not having enough data.
Set the Configuration to the game type and table size you play. This will give you the right Icons during play. The default config is setup for Full LIMIT games. If you play Full NL/PL games... set the config to "Full NoLimit". To do this, go to the Lookup window Options menu, select Configurations, then select "Full No-Limit".

Opponent NAME colors indicate their "vp$ip" (preflop looseness)
Bold Red (very tight) < 17 < Red (tight) < 22 < Black (average) < 33 < Green (loose) < 42 < Bold Green (very loose)
Gray-Italicized means not enough data, the default is set to 10+ hands.

Basic Stat Usage: more info in the forum
• CallingStations call... a lot. Don't try to bluff a calling station. If you raised with KT but didn't hit and he keeps calling your bets... slow down.
• Rock and Mouse rarely bet out at full table (7-10 players) but when they do they have something. Usually you can steal their blinds... but don't go beyond that (rock especially) unless you have the goods. You can generally steal blinds from Shark as well... but they tend to be more savvy if you keep doing it.
• Preflop: Respect preflop bets less from loose: Maniac, green bomb, green caution, green redfish, green greenfish
• Preflop: Respect preflop bets more from tight: Rock, Mouse, Shark, red redfish, red greenfish, names in red and especially bold red.
( full table: Rock & Mouse only bet first when they have something )
• Postflop: Respect bets less from players with high fl-see-aggr: maniacs, bombs, cautions. Note: sharks and rocks have high fl-see-aggr... but often have something cuz they only start with quality starting hands.
• Postflop: Respect bets more from players with low fl-see-aggr: Mouse, Greenfish, Redfish, CallingStation's that bet out. If these non-aggressive types are betting into you... then they "probably" have something.
• Defending Blinds: Players with high Steal-Blind % (20%+ and especially 28%+) will often attempt steals from position with A-rag, K8, QJ, JT, T8s, etc. Aggressively defending a group-1 or group-2 hand against these guys can often be fruitful. But defending blinds is tricky business, proceed with caution. sometimes even these loose stealers get a good hand... or hit their T8s.
• Stealing Blinds: You can generally steal a good amount from players with high Fold-to-Steal % (75% plus). But if you do it too often some will start to bite back.
Accuracy of the data: The more hands that have been captured about the player the more accurate the "rating".
• The primary stats like vp$ip, pf-raise, pf-coldcall and fl-aggr are fairly accurate after only like 30+ hands, and pretty accurate after like 60+. And these are the stats that will influence your decisions the most. Of course even more hands make them more accurate.
• w$sd, tu-aggr, ri-aggr, (fl-see)aggr, (fl-see)sd-see, (pf-raise)fl-bet, the steal blind stats, and some other stats that populate somewhat slower than the primary stats become fairly accurate after like 60+ hands... and are pretty accurate after like 150+.
• Other more obscure stats take more hands to show accuracy, but that's because they populate slower. Chk-raise, river-raise, Allin, and obscure turn & river w$sd stats don't happen nearly as often. So they fall into this category. They may need 400+ hands or even more.
• And some stats require a huge amount of data... like bottomline and bb/100 for cash games. But that's because they are about how profitable a player is over time.
